
Alex Joy is a Melbourne based puppeteer, designer and educator who played Winnie the pooh in the Australia tour of the musical
He is a 2022 graduating student of the Lemony S Puppet Lab. In the same year he was selected as an Associate Artist at Theatreworks St Kilda and recently completed the La Mama Theatre Pathways program for emerging theatremakers and playwrights. Previous work includes sessional puppetry for A Blanck Canvas, Rolling with Bonkel Theatre, Puppet Captain for three seasons of The Ghostlight League’s Shakespeare Aliens and creative associate for The Danger Ensemble’s Songs of The Flesh. Alex serves on the committees for UNIMA Australia and the UNIMA Internationale Youth Commission. His industry podcast, Talking Sock, identifies and highlights the work of puppetry artists in Australia and abroad. Alex is absolutely thrilled to be touring Australia in Disney’s Winnie the Pooh.
