During a snowstorm, Pooh, Piglet, Tigger and Rabbit try to salvage a lone carrot in Rabbit’s garden when they hear calls for help from a baby bluebird in a nest being blown around. Rabbit abandons the carrot and saves the bird, then afterwards volunteers to take care of her, who reveals her name to be Kessie. A few days later, Rabbit is feeling the stress of parenthood while taking care of Kessie. When Pooh and Piglet drop by, Rabbit has become hysterical and manically leaves Kessie to them while he attends his garden, but briefly returns inside when he hears the bird cry. Pooh and Piglet give Kessie a bath, but she accidentally spills the bubble bath in the bathtub and fills the entire house with bubbles. The bubbles burst out of the house as Kessie floats away in one. Rabbit sees this and runs after her. When he catches her, he makes her promise to not fly again because out of fear of her safety, which Kessie reluctantly agrees to.
Spring arrives and Rabbit teaches Kessie how to weed his garden when he stubs his toe on a pot with a carrot in it. Kessie says that is the first carrot she planted which she saved for Rabbit. Tigger bounces in and asks if Kessie can play with him, but Rabbit refuses, saying she is busy weeding carrots. Tigger joins in, but pulls the carrots out after mistaking them for weeds. Later, Tigger is bouncing around the Wood with Kessie riding on his back. He encounters a very tall tree and bounces up it, but once atop, the tree fall down and and leaves Tigger and Kessie hanging over a cliff. Kessie calls for help, which Rabbit hears and immediately rushes over. He walks across the tree, but stops halfway across after noticing his weight is tipping the tree towards the ledge. He instead has Tigger swing his tail, which Kessie is hanging from, and toss Kessie to him. However, she slips from Rabbit's hand and falls down the cliff. Rabbit tries to jump after her, but Tigger stops him saying it is too late. Owl passes by Kessie, but mistakes her falling for an air trick and proceeds to tell her about a relative of his who used to do the same air trick. He eventually saves her and carries her back to Rabbit, who is relieved to know she is okay. Owl tells Rabbit he will teach her to fly so she can migrate, but Rabbit disagrees with this and brings Kessie home, telling her flying is not good. Later, Rabbit is reading a story to Kessie, who is still sad at not being allowed to fly. She walks away in the middle of the story to look out the window and sees other birds flying.
It becomes autumn and Kessie walks around the woods still saddened by her flightlessness. After seeing a flock of birds, she climbs a tree and jumps off a branch in an attempt to fly, but falls into a leaf pile. Trying again from a higher branch, she falls again and lands on Pooh, whom she asks not to tell Rabbit about her flying attempts. Pooh says he will teach her to fly and takes her to a cliff where Piglet ties a slingshot to two trees, which Tigger pulls back on with Pooh inside holding Kessie. Rabbit shows up and angrily tells everyone off for teaching Kessie how to fly. He forcefully makes Tigger let go of the slingshot while forgetting he had stepped inside it, accidentally shooting himself off the edge of the cliff. Kessie runs off the cliff and manages to pull Rabbit back up the ledge. Pooh, Piglet, and Tigger celebrate over Kessie’s achievement, but Rabbit walks away sadly thinking Kessie might leave. That night, while a snowstorm is happening, Kessie asks Rabbit to read her one last bedtime story, but Rabbit is feeling too gloomy for this.
The next morning, Pooh, Piglet, Tigger and Owl get ready to see Kessie off. However, Kessie notices Rabbit is absent and wants to say goodbye to him, to which Pooh says he is probably busy with his garden. However, he is really searching for that first carrot Kessie planted. He eventually finds it and races off to say goodbye to Kessie, but she is already airborne when he arrives. Feeling saddened, he drops her carrot over the cliff and sits down. He is cheered up when Kessie briefly returns to say goodbye to him. Later, Pooh and Piglet watch the sunset while contemplating the recent events. Piglet finds it odd that Rabbit seemingly went into liking Kessie in an instant, to which Pooh says people sometimes care too much and describes it as love. An amazes Piglet thinks they should tell Rabbit, but Pooh believes Rabbit already knows while seeing him staring out to the sky.

Quotes[]
- Rabbit: (sings Kessie a lullaby to stop her from crying) Rock-a-bye and keep still, because you're driving me crazy!
- (Kessie continues crying, until Rabbit wraps her in a blanket and fastens it with a pin)
- Rabbit: There.
- (Kessie pops out of the blanket and giggles)
- Rabbit: (sighs) I'm glad one of us is enjoying this.
- Kessie: Daddy sad?
- Rabbit: Daddy?! No, no, no. I'm Rabbit.
- Kessie: Rabbie?
- Rabbit: Rabbit. Rabbit! (turns around and gasps) Oh!
- (the milk bottle that is heating on the stove is swelling up to a monstrous size)
- Rabbit: (grabs a broom) Back! Back, you monster!!
- (he whacks the bottle with his broom, popping it; milk spews all over Rabbit; Kessie laughs)
- Tigger: (after Rabbit catches Kessie in his honey jar) Nice catch, Bunny Boy!
- (the door on which they are riding, floating in the wind, suddenly sputters like a car)
- Tigger: Well, whattaya know? (laughs nervously as the door stops) Outta gas.
- (after Kessie's ride in a soap bubble)
- Rabbit: Now, Kessie, promise me you won't go so high ever again. It's not safe.
- Kessie: But I like it.
- Rabbit: But I like you. And I don't want anything to happen to you.
- Kessie: I promise, Rabbie.
- Tigger: Is something wrong, bunny boy?
- Rabbit: (after Kessie has fallen down a cliff, and it seems all hope is lost forever) Oh, Tigger. I never...even told her...I loved her. (breaks down into tears)
- Kessie: (giggles) Rabbie!
- Rabbit: (shocked) Kessie....!
- Tigger: (bounces for joy) YAHOO!!!!!
- Pooh: I hope Spring decides to come early this year. I can't wait to see Kessie again!
- Piglet: It's the most peculiar thing: For the longest time, I thought Rabbit didn't like her.
- Pooh: You know, Piglet, sometimes people care too much. I think it's called "love".
- Piglet: Oh! Do you think we should tell Rabbit?
- Pooh: Don't worry. I believe he already knows.
- Rabbit: (voice over) And that was the last time I saw her.
- Tigger: Hiya, bunny-boy! Just dropped by to see if the kiddo can come out and play.
- Kessie: Rabbie, please?
- Tigger: Yeah, Rabbie. Pleeeeeeeeease?
- Rabbit: No, she can't. I was just teaching her something useful. How to weed carrots!
- Tigger: Ooh, is he lucky! Weedin' carrots is what Tiggers do best! (he starts pulling up every carrot in Rabbit's garden)
- Rabbit: Oh, no! Stop! Stop!
- Tigger: (stops) Hey, what's the matter? Am I makin' ya look bad in front of the kid?
- Rabbit: You're pulling up my carrots!
- Tigger: (looks at the carrots in his hands) Oh! So these are carrots, huh?! Well, whattaya know?! (laughs)
- Pooh: (sees that Kessie is unharmed) Rabbit, you saved her! Why, you're a hero!
- Rabbit: HERO!?! Fiddle D D! Look at my house! It's a mess!
