"Fish Out of Water" is the second segment of the nineteenth episode of the first season of The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. It originally aired on January 21, 1989.
Synopsis[]
It’s the migration of the mutton-head trout in the Hundred Acre Wood and Gopher moves in with Rabbit. Rabbit thinks of a plan to make it rain to get the Mutton-head trout out, and with Eeyore wishing to fly, it’s a good one of Rabbit’s plans that are about to be done.
Plot[]
When the mutton-head trout comes upstream to the Hundred Acre Wood, Gopher moves in with Rabbit, much to his dismay, as he starts renovating Rabbit’s house to look like his. Rabbit has a plan to get the mutton-head trout out of town: make it rain. He, Pooh and Piglet launch Eeyore into the skies, but forget about him until late at night. Pooh thinks of a plan to get him down: to get Eeyore down, that will get the cloud down. When Gopher tells Rabbit that the mutton-head trout will come back downstream in a few months, Rabbit goes crazy and decides that “if you can’t beat ’em, join ’em”, so he swims upstream with the fish.

Trivia[]
- This is second of three episodes of The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh where Tigger does not appear after "Nothing But the Tooth" and before "Owl in the Family." This is also the last such episode from the first season.
- The mutton head trout seem to make slight murmuring noises. However, no types of fish actually make noises such as this.
- "Fish Out of Water" is also the title of episodes from The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack and Fish Hook and Bojack Horseman, as well as a Beginner Book.
- This is the only episode in which Eeyore says the first line, which was "Sure is nice being a cloud."
