I Hum to Myself is a song from Welcome to Pooh Corner. The song was written by the Academy Award winning songwriting duo of Richard M. Sherman and Robert B. Sherman. The Sherman Brothers also wrote the majority of famous Winnie the Pooh songs including songs like, "The Wonderful Thing about Tiggers" and "Heffalumps and Woozles" from the 1960s. In 2000, the Sherman Brothers also famously wrote the score to The Tigger Movie.

I Hum to Myself

Song placement[]

New episodes played from 1983-1986 in the first run. Reruns continued to air until 1997. The Sherman Brothers wrote five songs, one for each of the major characters to sing, repeatedly each week. A storyline would "belong" to one character and at the end of an episode, the appropriate character would sing his "lesson song".

About the song[]

I Hum to Myself is sung by Piglet. It's about how Piglet deals with his fears, namely, he hums to himself.

Lyrics[]

When I see shadows on the wall

Hear the noises in the night

In spite I can't just fall asleep

I'm too awake with fright

To drive away the spookies, the trembles and the fears

I call upon this little trick

That I've used for years

I hum to myself

And laugh to myself

And say to myself

Right away to myself

Everything's okay

It's funny when I hum to myself

And laugh to myself

And say everything's okay to myself

All my jumps and jitters flitter away

So I hum to myself

And they flitter away

So I hum to myself

And they flitter away

When there's a brand new neighbor

All I really like to know

I've always been too shy to just walk up

And say hello

I wanted to run away and hide

And yet I never do

I call upon this little trick

It always see me through

I hum to myself

And laugh to myself

And say to myself

Right away to myself

Everything's okay

It's funny when I hum to myself

And laugh to myself

And say everything's okay to myself

All my jumps and jitters flitter away

So I just walk up

And say hello

I just walk up

And say hello
