Launched in 1997 in the United States and Canada, Playhouse Disney was a block of programming seen in the later morning hours on Disney Channel. It is the original broadcaster of the program My Friends Tigger & Pooh, though it does not currently air the program. Additionally, Playhouse Disney was the broadcaster for The Book of Pooh. Airings of The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh have aired from time-to-time in this block and some Pooh films, such as Pooh's Grand Adventure: The Search for Christopher Robin have been broadcast as part of this block's "Movie Time Monday" feature.

In many non-U.S. markets, Playhouse Disney was offered as a 24/7 television network. On May 26, 2010, On March 23, 2012, was rebranded in all markets as Disney Junior and launched as a 24/7 network in the United States beginning on March 23, 2012, replacing SOAPNet. Disney Junior features installments of The Mini Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, first seen on special features of the 2011 Pooh film, and a new series titled Tales of Friendship with Winnie the Pooh has been announced.
