Carly Simon

Deep in the Hundred Acre Wood

Where Christopher Robin plays

You'll find the enchanted neighborhood

Of Christopher's childhood days.

Pooh: (narrating) This is one of my favorite once-upon-a-times, (We see dragonflies above the pond, field mice washing their faces, squirrels near a little waterfall in a stream and birds flying under the Poohsticks bridge) although I'm not quite sure which time it was once upon. But it had been so nice and summery in the Hundred Acre Wood, and the sunshine was as warm as a blanket. And the streams were gurgling happily. As happily as a tumbly complete with honey...which is very happy. But all that changed until......the stranger came.

(We see the film title "Pooh's Heffalump Movie" as a strange trumpeting sound is heard. Then we cut to Pooh's house where he is still fast asleep dreaming about honey)

[We cut to Pooh's house where he is still fast asleep dreaming about honey]

Pooh: (in his sleep sighs) Honey. Honey.

[Little does Pooh know that his head is hanging over his bed and over a honey jar next to it. A strange trumpeting sound is heard, making Pooh wake up in a jolt]

Pooh: Oh! Oh! Oof!

[His head lands into the open honey jar, making honey get all over the floor.]

Pooh: Oh, bother.

[We then cut to Piglet's house where he is sleeping. His ears are twisted up, and he is wearing his sleeping mask.]

Piglet: (snoring)

[Then the trumpeting sound is heard. making Piglet wake up in a fright.]

Piglet: (gasps) Oh, d-d-dear! Oh, my!

[He runs out of his house and is so frightened that he runs into his laundry line and gets caught in a white blanket.]

Piglet: It's got me!

[Then we cut over to Tigger's house where he is a sleep in his hammock]

Tigger: (snoring)

[Then the trumpeting sound his heard making Tigger jump]

Tigger: Gah!

[He spins in his hammock and gets catapulted out of it into a rolling chair which rolls into his wall, causing his house to shake for a few seconds before a picture above him falls and crashes onto his head.]

Tigger: (grunts)

[We then cut to Roo’s room, where he is sleeping. The trumpeting sound wakes him too, but he doesn’t get scared.]

Roo: Huh?

[Roo leaps out of his bed and opens the window to hear the sound again. Kanga comes in.]

Kanga: (laughs) Dear Roo. All excited to go out already? You're not even dressed yet.

Roo: Mama, did you hear that sound?

Kanga: What sort of sound, dear?

Roo: I don't know. It was sort of strange. And kind of neat.

Pooh: (off-screen) Oh, the bother…

Kanga: Did it sound something like that?

Roo: (laughing) No, Mama. That's a Pooh Bear. Good morning, Pooh.

Pooh: What? Oh, well, uh, good morning, Roo. I wish it was. A good morning, that is.

Roo: Why? What happened?

[Piglet arrives, still wearing the white blanket.]

Pooh: Many things. Many strange things. Oh, dear. I'm sorry, Roo. I must be going. Where was I? Oh, bother.

Piglet: Oh, d-d-d-dear. Oh!

Roo: Good morning, Piglet.

Piglet: Oh!

Roo: What happened? Where's everybody going?

[Tigger bounces past with the picture still on his head.]

Piglet: To Rabbit's house. He'll know what to do. I hope.

Kanga: Whatever do you suppose is going on?

Roo: I'm gonna go see.

Kanga: (laughs) Have fun, dear. Come home when I call.

Roo: Yes, Mama. (He hops after the others) Pooh! Piglet! Wait for me!

[Pooh, Piglet, and Tigger are rushing as fast as they can. Piglet is shouting in fright.]

Pooh: Hold tight, Piglet.

Roo: Pooh! Piglet! Tigger!

Tigger: It's a Hundred Acre "catastrophide"!

Piglet: Help!

[They arrive at Rabbit’s house and all begin pounding at his door.]

Tigger: Open up in the name of us!

Quick, Rabbit! Help!

Rabbit: All right. Uh, what?

Pooh: Thank goodness you're all right.

Piglet: It came at me -in the dark/in the/my bed-!

Roo: I heard this neat sound.

Tigger: Terrible!

Rabbit: What's this all about?

Tigger: It chilled me to the bone-

Roo: I was asleep-

Pooh: Something like...this.

Rabbit: One at a time!

[Everyone goes silent and begins to calm down.]

Rabbit: Thank you. Now, what is going...

Tigger: Me! Pick me! Me, me, me!

Rabbit: Uh, Tigger?

Tigger: There I was...sleeping, dreaming Tiggerish dreams. And suddenly everything starts shaking. And there's stuff falling everywhere. And then it stops. And I look around. And there it wasn't, my most "favoritest" family portrait. It was clean gone.

Pooh: Did it look something like this, Tigger?

[Pooh pulls the picture off of Tigger’s head.]

Tigger: (sniffles) Yeah, it was… Actually, it had a little less Pooh in it.

[We see Pooh’s face through a hole in the picture, where Tigger’s head had broken through it.]

Rabbit: I see. (clears his throat) And, uh, Pooh Bear, what about you?

Pooh: Well, whatever it was, it ate my honey. Oh...

Roo: And- (Some honey falls on his face from the pot) Ah…

Pooh: Well, actually, I ate my honey. But it made me do it.

Rabbit: Humph.

Roo: I was asleep in bed, and I heard this neat trumpety sound, and-

Rabbit: Thank you, Roo. Very good. (clears his throat again) Now, Piglet, tell us what happened to you.

[As they’re talking, Roo sees a butterfly land in a strange hole]

Piglet: Actually, I-I-I'd like very much to forget.

Rabbit: Well, what we have here is a mystery...

- Wow!

Rabbit: ...of the most mysterious kind.

Roo: Hey, everybody. Look what I found!

[Everyone else comes over to inspect.]

Tigger: It's a swimming pool.

Eeyore: The sky has finally fallen. Always knew it would.

Piglet: Oh, m-m-m-my!

Roo: It looks like a footprint.

Tigger: That's "impossibibble. "

Rabbit: A footprint, indeed. Anyone can see it's only a... A... A…

All but Roo and Eeyore: (shouts of fright)

[The camera zooms back three times to reveal even more giant, round footprints.]

Rabbit, what sort of creature do you suppose...would be attached to a foot that...big?

Rabbit: There's only one thing it could be. (inhales) A Heffalump.

All but Roo, Rabbit, and Eeyore: (gasps)

Roo: Excuse me. What's a Heffalump?

Rabbit and Tigger: What's a Heffalump?

Rabbit

Everyone knows what a Heffalump's like.

Tigger

It's got fiery eyes and a tail with a spike.

Rabbit

Claws on its paws are sharp as a tack.

Tigger

And wing-a-ma-things coming out of its back.

Roo: Out of its back?

Rabbit: Of course, Roo. Precisely.

Tigger: "Exact-tickally. "

Tigger

Cause its bottom is up and its top's really down...

Rabbit

So its nose is its tail or the other way 'round...

Tigger

Yeah, and it's wide as a river and tall as a tree...

Rabbit

Imagine gigantic

Tigger

And times it by three!

Rabbit

It clomps here and there.

Tigger

It stomps to and fro.

Rabbit

Got three horns above

Tigger

And eleven below!

Piglet

Those are its good points

Pooh

There's much more to know…

All

About the

Dreadfully dreaded,

Thoroughly three-headed,

Horribly hazardous Heffalumps!

Roo: Wow! Neat.

Rabbit: Neat!? It's most certainly not neat!

Rabbit

Everyone knows they lurk and they creep

Tigger

The best time to see one is when it's asleep

Rabbit

If you sneak up behind it and get it to jump!

Tigger

You can tell which part's Heffa-hee-hee...

Rabbit

And which part is lump!

Chorus

They'll steal all your honey and eat your last crust.

Stomp on your house till it's nothing but dust.

The worst part of all is...

Roo: They're different from us?

Chorus

They're the

Dreadfully dreaded

Thoroughly three-headed

Fiercely ferociously

Mostly atrociously

Horribly hazardous

Heffalumps!

Roo: Yeah!

Rabbit: And they live right over there.

[The camera pans over to a fence, separating the Hundred Acre Wood from another forest.]

Rabbit: Heffalump Hollow.

Piglet: Oh, oh, d-d-d-d-dear!

Roo: I know. I know. Let's go get ‘em.

Rabbit: Capture a Heffalump? Haha. Impossible. Besides, it's never been done.

Roo: (gasps) Then we'd be the first to do it. It'd be fun! It'd be an adventure! It'd be...an "expotition. "

Rabbit: Hmm.

Tigger: Hmm.

Rabbit: Yes. Well, now that I think of it, it would be a first. Mm-hmm. Oh, yes. The first Heffalump expedition in history. Oh, splendid idea. (chuckles) Glad I thought of it.

[Roo frowns in confusion. This was his idea.]

Rabbit: Of course, capturing a Heffalump is a perilous affair. Meticulous planning is called for.

[As Rabbit talks, Tigger makes exaggerated, silly gestures and faces.]

But how does one capture a Heffalump?

Rabbit: How, you ask? It's quite simple, really.

[Rabbit looks back at Tigger, and Tigger stops.]

Rabbit: Come back with your equipment and I'll show you how it's done. (He turns to look at Tigger again.) Humph.

Roo: Woo-hoo!

[Pooh runs back to his house and comes out wearing his red shirt and carrying a honey pot.]

[We cut to Tigger’s house and hear various crashing sounds.]

Tigger: (grunts) Oof!

[We cut to Piglet carrying a mirror]

Piglet: (straining) Ohhh!

[We then cut back to Rabbit’s house. Rabbit has his back turned. We hear everyone arrive with their equipment.]

Rabbit: All right. Let's see what everyone's brought- (gasps)

[We see that no one has brought anything particularly useful, just a lot of furniture and junk.]

Tigger: Hoo-hoo-hoo!

Rabbit: Has anyone brought anything useful?

Roo: I brought some rope.

Rabbit: Rope, yes. My thought exactly. Thank you, Roo.

[Rabbit pats Roo’s head and then puts up a barrel with a Heffalump’s face drawn on it.]

Rabbit: You see, a simple piece of rope is the most effective device for capturing Heffalumps. Now, everyone together. Aim at the barrel and say in a firm voice… "In the name of the Hundred Acre Wood...I capture you. "

Pooh, Piglet, Tigger, and Eeyore: In the name of the Hundred Acre Wood...I capture you!

Rabbit: And toss!

[Everyone except Roo tosses their rope. We think they’ve all lassoed the barrel, but we turn and see that they’ve only managed to capture Rabbit, who is now tangled up in their ropes and hanging from a branch of his tree home.]

Rabbit: (unimpressed) Brilliant.

Roo: In the name of the Hundred Acre Wood...I capture you!

[Roo tosses his rope and lassoes the barrel.]

Roo: Whoa! I did it! I did it! I'm gonna capture a whole bunch of Heffalumps! Come on, everybody! Let's go get ‘em!

Rabbit: (untangles himself from the ropes) Uh, just a moment, Roo… (He kneels down to Roo’s level) A Heffalump expedition is fraught with danger.

Roo: But we gotta go catch the Heffalump.

Tigger: Roo, you just can't argue with a word like "fraught. "

Roo: But I really want to go…

Rabbit: It's too dangerous, Roo. You're simply too young. You could get hurt.

Roo: But I...

Kanga: (Off-screen, in the distance) Roo! Time to come home! Roo, dear!

Roo: You mean I can't go?

Rabbit: I'm... I'm sorry, Roo.

Kanga: Roo!

Roo: (sighs) Coming, Mom.

Piglet: Oh, don't be sad, Roo. I- I-I think you're very, very lucky.

[But Roo doesn’t seem to listen to Piglet. He picks up his rope and starts to walk sadly home.]

Rabbit: All right, everyone, we'll meet here tomorrow morning for the grand expedition.

[We fade to Kanga and Roo’s house at night, to Roo’s room, where Kanga is about to get Roo ready for bed.]

Kanga: And Rabbit and Tigger are quite sure Heffalumps are so awful?

Roo: And everybody's gonna catch one but me. It isn't fair.

Kanga: Oh, I'm sorry, Roo, but there will certainly be other adventures you can go on.

Roo: I'm grown up enough to catch a Heffalump. Aren't I, Mom?

Kanga: You're growing up very fast, indeed, dear. Faster than you think.

Roo: Do you think I could grow up by tomorrow morning?

Kanga: So soon? Why?

Roo: Then I could go on the “expotition”.

Kanga: You know, dear, growing up doesn't happen all at once. It takes its own time.

Roo: But I need to grow up now.

Kanga: Well, then, how about starting with a good night's sleep, little Mister Roo? (chuckles)

Kanga

Little Mister Roo...

Reaching for the moon...

So many things

you've got to do...

And no time for dreaming...

[We pan over to the fireflies making different patterns in the sky.]

Singer

Little Mister Roo...

Let the stars

shine over you...

Don't grow up too fast

too soon...

Save some time for dreaming...

[As the song goes on, Kanga gets Roo ready for bed and reads him a story.]

Singer

Settle in, settle down...

Let me see that sleepy yawn on your face...

Close your eyes...

I will love you completely...

And always...

Little Mister Roo...

The moon shines silver

over you...

No one knows you like I do…

And little Mister Roo...

Reaching for the moon...

Don't grow up too fast...

Too soon...

[Kanga puts Roo to bed]

Kanga: Do you want your nighty light?

[Roo looks briefly at the candle then back to Kanga sleepily.]

Roo: No, thanks. I don't need it anymore.

[Kanga blows out the candle then leaves the room.]

Kanga: Good night, sweetheart.

Roo: Good night, Mama.

[Kanga closes the door as Roo goes to sleep. We see her looking at a picture of Roo as a baby.]

[We then cut back to Roo as he wakes up briefly and looks at his rope and hat on a coat rack.]

Roo: I just know I could catch one.

[We cut to the window and zoom out on it as morning comes, but Roo isn’t in bed, and his rope and hat are gone too.]

[We cut to Roo outside. He sets off and follows the heffalump footprints all the way to Heffalump Hollow.]

Roo: (gasps)

[He looks up at the massive, towering forest that is Heffalump hollow. He hopes over the lower half of the fence, and his hat falls off. As he looks back at it, he falls off of a cliff.]

Roo: Ahhh!

[But his rope catches on something and stops his fall.]

Roo: Ah! (grunts)

[He pauses for a moment then slowly slides down the rope to the bottom. He pulls the rope down to him and then carries on, passing a bush as he goes.]

[Behind the bush, something rises up and follows Roo.]

[Meanwhile, Rabbit, Tigger, Pooh, Piglet, and Eeyore are on their way to Heffalump Hollow too. Piglet is setting down little pink jelly beans as they go, and Eeyore is carrying all of the stuff they brought yesterday.]

Tigger: Hoo-hoo-hoo!

Rabbit: Ah, yes. A perfect morning for catching Heffalumps.

Pooh: It's very brave of you to join us, Piglet. Especially since it's so very dangerous.

Piglet: Well, I thought of hiding under my bed, Pooh Bear, but I'd rather be hiding out here with all of you...than under my bed...with all of me!

Rabbit: Now, now. We've gathered the best minds to the task. Namely my own. We simply can't fail.

Tigger: Right you are, Rabber-rific. With Tigger's Heffalump-tracking skills, it's a fate-a-complicated.

Rabbit: With courage, cunning, and superior tactics… We'll be home by teatime.

Piglet: Oh, I hope so.

Rabbit: Behold. Heffalump Hollow. Home of the dreaded Heffalump.

[They look up at the massive, towering trees of Heffalump Hollow.]

Piglet: Oh, my. I believe that what's over there doesn't look quite as friendly as what's over here.

Rabbit: Fiddlesticks and nonsense. There's nothing to be afraid of.

[Everyone is braced in fear as Rabbit jumps over the fence. Tigger, who had his eyes covered, uncovers them.]

Rabbit: Hmm.

Tigger: There you go. See? Rabbit didn't get gobbled up. Yet.

[Rabbit points to Tigger and gestures in a “Get over here” motion.]

Rabbit: Hmm!

Tigger: Okay.

[Tigger backs up, preparing to bounce over the fence. He jumps up ridiculously high.]

Tigger: Hoo-hoo-hoo!

[Everyone looks up to watch Tigger’s jump, but he’s jumped up so high that he crashes through the trees on his way down, making various pained noises as he bumps into their branches. …Then he lands on top of Rabbit.]

Tigger: Hoo-hoo-hoo! Well, would you look at that. I didn't get gobbled up either. Hoo-hoo-hoo!

Rabbit: Yet.

[Tigger gulps. Meanwhile, Pooh and Piglet climb over the rails of the fence.]

Pooh: There you are, Piglet. It seems that both sides of the fence are about the same. So far.

Rabbit: Ha! Now to teach those Heffalumps a thing or two. Ready? Forward, march!

Rabbit

No time to lose

Chin up, tallyho!

We'll never stop ‘til those Heffalumps go!

Tigger

The best Heffa-quest

you'll ever know.

All

They're the

Dreadfully dreaded,

Thoroughly three-headed,

Horribly hazardous Heffalumps.

The dreadfully dreaded,

Thoroughly three-headed-

Rabbit

Massively monstrously-

Tigger

Unbearably scare-ably-

All

Horribly hazardous Heffalumps!

Rabbit: Haha!

[We cut to Pooh helping Piglet up onto a large rock.]

Piglet: Thank you, Pooh Bear.

Pooh: You're welcome.

[Rabbit and Tigger take a path to the left.]

Rabbit: Now, remember, everyone, the important thing is that we stick together.

Pooh: Oh! Uh, coming.

[Pooh and Piglet take a path to the right.]

- Safety in numbers, you know.

Pooh: You know, if we didn't stick together we would be very lost indeed.

[Eeyore, meanwhile, stops at the fence between the Hundred Acre Wood and Heffalump Hollow, having just gotten there due to all of the stuff he’s carrying.]

Eeyore: Don't let me hold you up.

[Elsewhere in Heffalump Hollow, Roo is still looking for a heffalump. He climbs over a log, but his rope gets stuck. He pulls, but as he gets it free, it lands in the river.]

Roo: (gasps)

[He follows the rope down the river until it comes to a mill. He heads out onto a small dock and tries to get his rope out of the water with a stick. As he does, little does he know that something is sneaking up on him. It takes one of Roo’s cookies and his two apples.]

Roo: (finally getting his rope out of the river) Got it! (he hears something and gasps)

[He sees the cattails moving. He looks at his backpack. A voice laughs quietly, and Roo sees a trail of cookie crumbs.]

Roo: (stammering) Who's there?

[He follows the cookie crumbs into the cattails until he comes to the door to the mill.]

Roo: (gulps)

[He looks under the door and sees nothing, then he pushes the door open with his foot.]

Roo: (nervous) Hello? Is anyone there? (echoing)

[Roo looks around. He hears creaking.]

Roo: (gasp)

[He backs up slowly, but then something touches him. He shrieks, and the voice laughs.]

Roo: Who's there?

[He hears bats fluttering, and something whizzes past him.]

Lumpy: You're it.

Roo: Ah!

[A mysterious figure appears, hidden by the shadows.]

Lumpy: Now you gotta catch me.

Roo: Uh, I really need to go, 'cause-

Lumpy: Aw. How come?

Roo: Because…I-I've got to catch a Heffalump.

Lumpy: Oh, really?

[The figure pounces Roo out of the mill, revealing themself to be a young heffalump.]

Lumpy: You can catch me. I'm a Heffalump.

Roo: A Heffalump?

Lumpy: Heffalump. Heffalump. That's what I am, all right. A Heffalump.

Roo: But you can't be.

Lumpy: Actually, I am.

Roo: If you're a Heffalump...then where's your horns? And spiky tail?

Lumpy: I don't know.

[The heffalump looks at his pom-pom tail, shaking it from side to side.]

Lumpy: Wow, a spiky tail. (stops shaking his tail) I wish I had one.

Roo: Are you sure you're a Heffalump?

Lumpy: My mummy says I am.

Roo: Well, if you are a Heffalump...then in the name of the Hundred Acre Wood...I capture you.

Lumpy: Okay!

[Roo spins his rope and tosses it over the heffalump’s head. The heffalump happily jumps into it.]

Lumpy: Jump.

Roo: (gasps) I did it.

Lumpy: (laughs)

Roo: I did it!

Lumpy: You did it! You did it!

[Both laugh]

Lumpy: Yay! You did it! You did it!

Roo: Wait. I captured you. Whoa!

[The heffalump drags Roo away as they bounce around, with Roo still holding onto the rope.]

Lumpy: I capture you! I capture you!

Roo: Whoa! Wait! Whoa! You're supposed to come with me!

[They go off into the woods.]

[Meanwhile, Eeyore is struggling to get a grandfather clock through the fence, but he finally manages.]

[In another part of Heffalump Hollow, Pooh and Piglet are still looking for heffalumps. Pooh is eating the various pink jelly beans that Piglet has been placing down behind him.]

Pooh: Um... Piglet?

Piglet: Yes, Pooh?

Pooh: Why are you setting out little pink jelly beans?

Piglet: I've been leaving a trail so we can find our way back from the Heffalump "expotition. "

Pooh: (freezes) Oh, bother.

Piglet: Oh, no. We're lost! (echoing)

[We pan over to yet another part of Heffalump Hollow. The young heffalump jumps through the bushes, laughing and still dragging Roo behind them.]

Roo: Whoa!

[The heffalump attempts to trumpet and laughs.]

Roo: Stop!

Lumpy: Okay.

[The heffalump comes to an abrupt stop, and Roo slides under them.]

Lumpy: What game should we play now? Rumblejump? Leaplog? Or Hogswallow?

Roo: We can't play any games.

Lumpy: Why?

Roo: You've gotta come with me.

[The heffalump doesn’t move, so Roo falls when his rope fails to come with him.]

Roo: Yow!

Lumpy: Why?

Roo: Because I captured you.

Lumpy: Why?

Roo: Because… Because I'm a grownup.

Lumpy: Wow. You're a grownup?

[The heffalump picks Roo up by his tail and holds him upside down.]

Roo: Hey!

Lumpy: A grownup. You must have your own call, then.

Roo: My call?

Lumpy: Yeah, like this.

[The heffalump tries to trumpet but only makes raspberry noises.]

Lumpy: Like that. But only better. Haven't found mine yet. (hiccups) My mum said I'll find it when I grow up.

[They try to trumpet again but only make more raspberry sounds. They laugh again and hiccup.]

Lumpy: I can't wait till I grow up.

Roo: Well, growing up takes a long time. It took me just about forever.

[Roo tries again to take the heffalump with him, but they still aren't moving, so he stays put. Suddenly, the trumpeting sound from the opening is heard.]

Roo: (gasps) That's it. That's the sound I heard.

Lumpy: Gotta go now. Bye.

[The heffalump starts to go with Roo still holding on.]

Roo: Wait. Wait a minute. You can't leave.

Lumpy: But my mummy's calling.

Roo: That's your mom?

Lumpy: Don't you have to go when your mum calls?

Roo: Well, yeah, but… Don't go yet. Let's go see my friends first. Then you can go.

Lumpy: Well, I don't know.

Roo: Please?

Lumpy: Mmm… Okay, I guess.

Roo: (sighs) Thanks.

Lumpy: But soon as we're done, I've got to go.

Roo: Okay. Forward, bounce!

[They bounce off to the left, both laughing.]

Lumpy: I know another game. It's called The Name Game.

Roo: Heffalumps have names?

Lumpy: Of course. My name is Heffridge Trumpeter Bumpet. Heffridge Trumpler Brompet Heffalump the Fourth.

Roo: Whoa. How do you remember all that?

Lumpy: I can't, so everybody calls me Lumpy. Lumpy. Lumpy-bumpy-dumpity-bump! (laughs) That's The Name Game. (giggles)

Lumpy

Lumpy lumpity lee!

Lumpy bumpity bee!

Lumpy dumpity dee!

Heffa-Lumpy like me!

You make a game

Of your name

So it's never the same,

Never the same.

Add a sound,

Add a doodle.

Now you've got a name that's brand new-dle.

[He grabs Roo with his trunk.]

Roo: Huh?

Lumpy: Go on, then. What's your name?

Roo: Roo?

Lumpy

Rooty tootle-y-doo!

[Lumpy bounces around Roo as he sings, causing Roo to become tied up in his own rope.]

Roo: Hey!

Lumpy

Rooty tootle-y-doo!

Rooty bootalee-boo!

Rooty tootie, that's you!

Roo: No, just Roo.

[Lumpy laughs.]

[We cut to the bush that Lumpy jumped through earlier and see two heffalump feet and a trunk inspecting his footprints, then we pan up as the heffalump trumpets and then leaves.]

[We cut to Eeyore trudging through a river.]

Eeyore: Heffalumps like…

[We then cut again to a bush where Rabbit and Tigger are hiding.]

Tigger: Okay, so why are we hiding again?

Rabbit: We're not hiding. We're planning an ambush.

Tigger: So, um… You see any Heffalumps yet?

Rabbit: I know. I'll use my famous Heffalump call to lure one over.

Tigger: You have an infamous Heffalump call?

Rabbit: Well, of course. All great Heffalump catchers do. (clears his throat) Scree! Yooo! (howling and yowling)

[Elsewhere, Pooh and Piglet hear Rabbit’s “heffalump call”.]

Piglet: M- M-My, what a dreadful sound. (gasps) Do you suppose it might b-b-b-b-be a...

Pooh: Oh, yes, Piglet. It does sound rather Heffalumpish.

Piglet: Oh, m-m-my!

[Pooh looks through an opening in the roots of a big tree.]

Piglet: Do you see it?

That one was good.

[Pooh sees Tigger’s tail.]

Pooh: (gasps) I see a tail.

Piglet: Are there horns too?

[Pooh sees Rabbit’s ears pop out of the bush.]

Pooh: Two of them.

Piglet: Oh, d-d-d-dear.

Pooh: Be brave, Piglet. This is our chance to save our woods. (His tummy rumbles.) And our honey.

Piglet: Yes, Pooh.

[They get out their ropes and nets.]

Pooh and Piglet: In the name of the Hundred Acre Wood...I capture you!

[They catch Rabbit and Tigger.]

Pooh: I caught a Heffalump, Piglet. And so did you.

Rabbit would be proud of us.

Piglet: Pooh, have you noticed that Heffalumps look a lot like rabbits?

Rabbit: And why do you think that is, Piglet? (His ears pop out of Piglet’s net.)

Piglet: Oh, d-d-dear. The Heffalump knows my name.

[Pooh takes off his goggles.]

Pooh: Well, hello there, Tigger. Did you happen to see the Heffalump I just captured?

Tigger: Hmm. You got me there.

[Elsewhere, Roo and Lumpy are walking through the woods.]

Lumpy: ‘Kerplunk,’ went the little green frog last night! ‘Kerplunk,’ went the little green frog last night! …‘Kerplunk,’ went the little green frog last night! And his bump went bloomp-bloomp-bloomp! (laughs) We all know frogs go-

[Lumpy gasps and stops as they approach the fence.]

Roo: Hey. Come on. Let's go.

Lumpy: I think I better go home now.

Roo: Why?

Lumpy: 'Cause I'm not supposed to go in that part of the woods. Scary things live there.

Roo: Huh? That's where I live. There aren't any scary things there.

Lumpy: Are too. There's a stripy thing that bounces, and it goes “Whoo-hoo-hoo-hoo!” Then it pounces. (Hisses)

Roo: (almost falls off the fence) Whoa! (laughing) No, that's Tigger. You're wrong about him. He's great.

Lumpy: And there's this little pig monster that squeals and shakes all the time. And it will get you if you don't watch out.

Roo: Oh, no. You're wrong about Piglet too. He wouldn't hurt a fly.

Lumpy: And then there's this loud thing, and it's got long ears. And he yells at everybody.

Roo: Yeah, you're kind of right about Rabbit. But he's okay once you get to know him.

Lumpy: I don't want to get to know him. …Do I have to?

Roo: Hey, you really are scared, aren't you? But my friends aren't scary.

Lumpy: Uh-huh.

Roo: Who told you all this stuff?

Lumpy: I don't know. Everybody knows.

Roo: Hmm. That's just what Rabbit and Tigger said about Heffalumps. There's nothing scary here.

Lumpy: Promise?

Roo: Promise.

[Lumpy tries to squeeze through the fence but he struggles. Roo pushes on Lumpy until he squeezes out, and they both tumble until they land in a heap on the Hundred Acre Wood’s side, with Roo on Lumpy’s trunk.]

Roo: Whoa!

Lumpy: Roo.

Roo: Sorry. My fault.

[Back in Heffalump Hollow, RIgger is trying to clean Pooh’s goggles. He fogs them up and wipes them with his tail, but then he sees that he missed a spot. He licks it and then scrubs it off with his tail, and the goggles are finally clean.]

Pooh: Why, thank you, Tigger.

Rabbit: (Trying to get his foot untangled from Piglet’s net) All right, no more fun and games. The Heffalump is all but in our grasp.

[The trumpeting sound is heard again. They all shout in fear and look around before quickly scurrying into the log behind them.]

Tigger: Are we planning another ambush?

Rabbit: Of course not. We're hiding.

Piglet: H- H-How will we know w- when it's s-safe?

[They all look at Piglet and get an idea.]

[Rabbit pokes Piglet’s head out of a hole in the log.]

Piglet: Oh, m-m-my.

[Rabbit turns Piglet in different ways like a periscope.]

Rabbit: Well, Piglet? Do you see it?

[Piglet sees bushes moving.]

Piglet: Oh! Ahh! It's coming! It's coming!

Tigger: (gasps)

Rabbit: I suggest a retreat to another part of the wood.

Tigger: I'm right behind you. This way.

[Tigger and Rabbit’s feet pop out from opposite sides of the log, trying to move in different ways.]

Rabbit: No, that way.

All: (shouting)

[Then Eeyore merges from the bushes.]

Piglet: Oh, hello, Eeyore. Ah! Goodbye, Eeyore.

[Eeyore watches as they keep panicking in the log and walking with it.]

Eeyore: I'm afraid to ask.

[They crash off-screen.]

[We cut to Roo and Lumpy looking for the others.]

Roo: Hello? Pooh Bear? Hello? Hello! Anybody? Rabbit? I caught the Heffalump. (Lumpy looks at him in confusion) I mean, uh, Lumpy. Pooh Bear?

[They walk up to Pooh’s house and knock, but the door just swings open, revealing an empty home.]

Roo: Hmm. It looks like nobody's home.

[Lumpy sniffs around then sees a pot of honey on the table. He walks to it and his tummy rumbles.]

Lumpy: (giggles) Excuse me. Sorry.

Roo: Is that you?

Lumpy: Yeah. My mum usually makes me a snack about now. Do you have any Rumpledoodles?

Roo: What are those?

Lumpy: They're like biscuits. They go rather well with honey.

Roo: Wait. That's Pooh's honey.

[Lumpy pours some honey into his mouth.]

Lumpy: Mmm!

Roo: Oh, well. I guess he won't mind.

[Lumpy laughs but then bumps into the wall, making a shelf of honey pots shake. He then bumps into a cupboard, making the honey pots in there shake too.]

Roo: Um, we better go before we break something.

[They leave Pooh’s home. Lumpy slams the door and we hear crashing noises, making them both cringe.]

Both: Uh-oh.

[They shout and run away from Pooh’s home.]

[We cut to Roo and Lumpy at Rabbit’s house.]

Roo: This is where Rabbit lives.

Lumpy: Is he the one with the pointy ears?

Roo: Don't worry. He won't hurt you.

[Lumpy sees something off-screen and smiles.]

Roo: They must still be out on the “expotition”. Lumpy?

[We see Lumpy eating one of Rabbit’s watermelons.]

Lumpy: Mmm!

[Roo walks over and helps himself to one too.]

Roo: Ha! Hmm.

[He spits a seed out then cheekily spits another one at Lumpy. He laughs.]

Lumpy: Oh, yeah?

[Lumpy sucks seeds out from another watermelon. Roo, expecting what’s about to happen, hides behind a watering can. Lumpy sprays the seeds out from his trunk, and they ricochet off of the watering can. Roo pulls a carrot out of the ground and throws it at him.]

Roo: Whoo-hoo-hoo!

Lumpy: Whoa!

[The carrot misses Lumpy. Roo prepares to grab another one, but it gets sucked into the ground.]

Roo: Huh? Wh…?

[The carrots are being sucked up by Lumpy.]

Roo: Ah!

[Roo hides behind the watering can again. Lumpy fires the carrots which push the watering can out of the way. He fires more carrots which hit Rabbit’s vegetable signs but miss Roo. Roo laughs.]

[Lumpy kicks a pumpkin at Roo. It hits the head of Rabbit’s scarecrow, which Roo was hiding in.]

Roo: Missed me!

[Lumpy kicks another pumpkin at him.]

Roo: Oh!

[The pumpkin hits the scarecrow, causing it to spin around.]

Roo: Whoa!

[Roo is flung out of the scarecrow. A turnip hits Rabbit’s garden sign.]

[Lumpy fires cantaloupes, and the juice splashes Roo as they burst open. Lumpy fires a bunch of cantaloupes at Rabbit’s wheelbarrow, giving Roo an idea.]

[Roo tips the wheelbarrow, and all the cantaloupes come rolling out towards Lumpy.]

[The cantaloupes get to Lumpy, and he ends up rolling on one until he falls into a bunch of watermelons and the juice splashes all over him. Lumpy emerges from the watermelons with one on his head.

Roo: Gotcha.

[Lumpy and Roo look around at the mess they made of the garden and of themselves.]

Lumpy: Uh-oh… (Lumpy pulls the watermelon off of his head) My mum's not going to like this, Rooty-toot.

Roo: Yeah. My mom neither...Lumpster. [Lumpy chuckles] We'd better get cleaned up. Hey, wanna play a game?

Lumpy: What kind of game?

[We cut to Roo and Lumpy on a log overhanging a lake. Roo jumps off.]

Roo: Cannonball! (laughs, pauses)

[He’s left hanging from his grasp on the rope, because Lumpy hasn’t jumped yet. Lumpy looks at Roo for a second then jumps into the water, making a big splash.]

[We see a montage of Roo and Lumpy playing in the lake.]

[Lumpy sprays the water onto Roo and then onto himself.]

Lumpy: See?

[Roo tries but ends up coughing up the water. They both laugh.]

Roo: Tell you what, you stick to squirting and I'll stick to bouncing.

Lumpy: Yup.

[They both look up to the sky and get and idea.]

Roo: Are you thinking what I'm thinking?

Lumpy: Yeah!

Roo: Cloud racing!

[Roo looks at the rope for a second.]

Roo: Lumpster?

Lumpy: Yeah?

Roo: You're not captured anymore.

[Roo pulls the rope off of Lumpy’s neck.]

Lumpy: Yay!

[Meanwhile, Rabbit, Tigger, Pooh, and Piglet have run out of Heffalump Hollow.]

Tigger: Run! Hurry! Come on! You're behind!

All: (shouting)

Tigger: Shhh! Quiet!

[They hide behind a tree, and when they peek out, no one is behind them. Tigger turns around and sees Rabbit and Pooh’s houses.]

Tigger: Well, what do you know? (chuckles) We're home.

Rabbit: Well, well. All in all, a successful Heffalump expedition.

Pooh: Are you sure, Rabbit?

Rabbit: Well, certainly. Just look around. You don't see any Heffalumps, do you?

[They then see Lumpy’s footprints going into Pooh’s house.]

Rabbit: (gasps)

[Rabbit, Pooh, and Piglet look inside and see that there are honey pots and spilt honey all over the house.]

Pooh: Oh, bother. Rabbit, I don't think it's successful anymore.

Tigger: (off-screen) Rabbit! Rabbit! Rabbit!

[They see the mess that was made of Rabbit’s garden.]

Rabbit: The Heffalumps are among us!

[Everyone panics.]

- What'll we do?

- We're surrounded.

Piglet: Run for your life!

- Where?

- Look for an exit!

- They got us surrounded!

- Did you hear that?

Piglet: We're trapped!

Rabbit: That's it. Traps. We need traps! Everywhere!

[We see a montage of Rabbit, Tigger, Pooh, and Piglet building traps.]

Tigger: Whoo-hoo-hoo!

Ah!

Pooh: I'll get some bait.

[Pooh comes back with honey pots. Piglet looks inside one.]

Piglet: Ooh!

[The pot is empty. He looks back at Pooh, who has honey on his face.]

Pooh: What?

[Pooh and Piglet bring a mattress for Tigger to land on.]

Tigger: Hoo-hoo-hoo!

[As he lands on the mattress, he catapults Piglet up, and Piglet gets caught in the trap.]

Piglet: Ah!

Tigger: Behold. A super-duper, extra-looper, hunka hunka Heffatrap.

Pigler: Oh, m-m-m-my.

Tigger: Well, what do you know? It catches Piglets too.

Rabbit: I'd like to see a Heffalump try and breach these defenses.

Pooh: It's impressive, Rabbit.

Rabbit: Now...to await the attack.

[We fade back to Roo and Lumpy still playing together, climbing back up the hillside.]

[They hear the trumpeting sound again and both gasp, stopping.]

Roo: Oh, no! We forgot your mom.

[The trumpeting sound is heard again.]

Lumpy: I really have to go.

[They hear the trumpeting sound a third time.]

Lumpy: She sounds worried.

Roo: Come on. I'll help you find her.

Lumpy: Thank you, Roo.

[They turn around and head off to find Lumpy’s mother.]

[Meanwhile, Kanga is finishing setting the table for lunch. She becomes worried as she sees that Roo hasn’t come home yet. She opens the door and goes outside to call him.]

Kanga: Roo! Roo!

[She looks around, wondering where Roo could be.]

[We cut back to the mill and see an apple core from one of Roo’s apples. We see the shadow of the large heffalump from earlier, Lumpy’s mother. She trumpets.]

[She stops when she sees the mill door opened, sticking her trunk inside and sniffing around. FInding Lumpy is not there, she leaves, and we cut to the treetops.]

[Birds fly away from the treetops as we hear Roo’s voice.]

Roo: Mrs. Heffalump!

[We cut to Roo and Lumpy looking for Lumpy’s mother.]

Lumpy: (raspberry)

Roo: Mrs. Heffalump?

[They search in the woods, over a log, on a rock, but no luck. Lumpy repeatedly tries to trumpet for her but can only make raspberry sounds.]

Lumpy: (raspberry)

Roo: Mrs. Heffalump!

Lumpy: (raspberry, tries again but only more raspberry sounds)

[No response. They keep going until they come to a big pile of logs. They stare at it for a minute.]

Roo: Gosh… She's not here, either.

Don't worry, Lumpy. We'll find her. Um, uh… Let's try that way.

[They take a path to the left.]

[Lumpy gives up trying to climb over a log and just lays on top of it.]

Roo: Lumpster? Are you okay?

Lumpy: (sniffs) We haven't heard my mum in a really long time.

[Lumpy tries and fails to trumpet again and gets no response. He breaks down, sobbing softly. Roo tries to solve the problem.]

Roo: Um... Do you wanna play a game?

Lumpy: No, thanks. Don't feel like games.

[Roo sits on the log next to him.]

Roo: When I don't feel good...my mom sings to me.

Lumpy: My mum sings to me too.

[Roo thinks for a moment then starts to sing a version of the lullaby that Kanga sang to him.]

Roo

Little Lumpy Loo...

Reaching for the moon...

So many things…

We've got to do...

Lumpy: I want my mum.

Roo: Me too. (He gets an idea.) Wait. My mom. She'll know what to do. Come on. Come on, Lumpy. Let's go back and find her.

[They turn back, with Lumpy trailing behind Roo, holding the rope.]

Roo: Come on, Lumpy. My mom will make everything okay.

[We cut back to Kanga looking for Roo.]

Kanga: Roo? Roo!

[As she bounces, her foot trips a rope, setting off one of the traps Rabbit and the others made and getting herself caught inside it.]

Kanga: Oh! Oh, my goodness.

Tigger: False alarm! As in, "Never mind!" (chuckles)

[Pooh, Rabbit, and Piglet emerge from their hiding places.]

Tigger: We almost casually captivated ourselves a captive Kanga. And that's kind of hard to say.

[They all help to get the trap off of Kanga.]

Kanga: What's all this for?

Piglet: We built traps to catch the Heffalump.

Tigger: Clever, huh?

Kanga: Please, have any of you seen Roo? He should have been home by now.

[We fade to Roo and Lumpy climbing up a hill.]

Roo: Come on, Lumpy. Just a little further.

[They make it to the top of the hill and see Kanga, Rabbit, Tigger, Pooh, and Piglet.]

Hey, look. There she is, Lumpy. Mom! (echoes)

Kanga: Roo!

Roo: This is Lumpy! He's a Heffalump!

Tigger: A real Heffalump!

Rabbit: And it's got Roo too!

Tigger: Stop him!

Roo: Huh?

Rabbit: Unhand him!

Pooh: We'll save you, Roo!

Lumpy: Ahh!

Roo: Wait!

[Lumpy makes a run for it and trips over a trap which almost catches him. He runs away in fright, right towards Rabbit and Tigger.]

Tigger: Never mind.

- Retreat!

Rabbit: Retreat! Retreat!

Tigger: Bounce for your life!

[Lumpy trips over another trap, and a big net almost catches him.]

Lumpy: Ahhh!

Tigger: Charge!

Roo: No, wait!

[Tigger and Rabbit fall into a hole trap. Lumpy runs away, and Roo chases after him, but he trips over a rock which sets off a net wall trap.]

Roo: Lumpy!

Kanga: (off-screen) Roo!

Roo: Lumpy!

[Lumpy runs off further into the woods.]

Roo: Wait! Don't go! Lumpy! Lumpy!

[He searches for Lumpy.]

Roo!

Huh?

Lumpy?

Lumpy: (sniffs) You said they wouldn't be scary. (sniffs) You promised.

[Lumpy lays down, still sobbing. Roo tries to break him out of the trap by pulling and shoving on it, but it goes nowhere.]

Roo: (sighs) Oh, Lumpy. I'm so sorry. This is all my fault.

Lumpy: I want my mummy.

Roo! Roo!

[Roo looks up at the ropes holding the trap together.]

Roo: Come on, Lumpy. We gotta get you out of here.

[He climbs up to the top of the trap where he struggles a bit but manages to untie the ropes, causing the trap to fall apart and freeing Lumpy.]

[Kanga watches, shocked and proud from behind a tree.]

Kanga: Roo.

[Roo slides down the rope to Lumpy, who hugs him. Kanga watches on, touched by their friendship.]

Roo: Come on. Let's get you back home.

[Suddenly, Rabbit, Tigger, Piglet, and Pooh arrive.]

Rabbit: There they are!

- The Heffalump's got him.

Tigger: Drop my bouncing buddy, you Heffally-rascalump!

Rabbit: After it!

[Roo gasps.]

Rabbit, Tigger, Piglet, and Pooh: In the name of the Hundred Acre Wood...I capture you!

[They all lasso Lumpy.]

Roo: No! Lumpy!

- We did it!

- We did.

Roo: Leave him alone!

Kanga: Wait!

Roo: You're scaring him.

Kanga: Rabbit, what on earth are you all doing?

Rabbit: Well, we're rescuing Roo from the Heffalump!

Roo: Wait. No, stop. You don't understand.

Rabbit: What? Now, see here, Roo-

Roo: (sternly) Ahem. Rabbit, let him finish, please.

Roo: We were wrong about Heffalumps. They're not scary creatures. Lumpy's my friend. He's just like us. (to Piglet) He gets afraid.

Piglet: (drops his rope) Oh.

Roo: (to Pooh) He likes honey.

Pooh: (drops his rope) Oh…

Roo: (to Tigger) And he even learned how to bounce.

Tigger: (lets go of his rope, holds his tail) Oh, look at that.

Roo: So... So you've got to un-capture him.

Rabbit: But… Oh. (lets go of his rope, sighs)

[Lumpy is still scared. He backs away but almost falls off the edge of a small cliff.]

Lumpy: Woah!

Roo: Lumpy! (He tries to help) Lumpy!

[He tries to pull Lumpy up but is flung into the air. Lumpy, thankfully manages to grab a root.]

Kanga: Oh!

[Roo falls into the log pile that he and Lumpy saw earlier.]

Roo: Oof!

[Lumpy, Kanga, Pooh, Tigger, Rabbit, and Piglet rush to help.]

Kanga: We're coming, dear!

- Oh, dear. Roo?

Lumpy: Roo! Hold on, Roo!

Kanga: Roo!

Roo: Mom... Mama?

Kanga: (gasps) Tigger.

Rabbit: We'll help you! Just hang on!

Lumpy: Roo, I've got an idea!

[He looks back at the woods then back at Roo.]

One, two, three...

Lumpy: Hold on, Roo!

[He runs back towards the woods and tries to trumpet three times, though he only manages to make more raspberry noises. The others hear him and turn.]

Pull!

Roo: Lumpy?

Pooh: There, there, Piglet. I think he's trying to help.

[Lumpy looks at his trunk then sucks in air with all his might. He finally trumpets, loud and long. He’s found his call.]

Lumpy: (gasps, laughs)

[Lumpy listens and hears his mother trumpet back to him.]

Lumpy: (gasps) Mummy!

Rabbit: Mummy!?

[Rabbit and Tigger try to run but Kanga stops them.]

Lumpy: (laughs and trumpets) My mummy's coming!

[Lumpy’s mother emerges from the forest. She trumpets loudly, and Rabbit and Tigger faint. Lumpy laughs and goes up to his mother.]

Mrs. Heffalump: Heffridge Trumpler Brompet Heffalump the Fourth, where have you been? Oh, my little darling. I've been worried sick.

Lumpy: I'm okay, Mummy, but my friend Roo's in trouble. Can't you save him?

[Mrs. Heffalump looks at Lumpy then at Kanga.]

Mummy, this way. Hurry.

- Oh, my.

[Lumpy leads his mom to the log pile. She climbs carefully onto it.]

Mrs. Heffalump: Roo, can you hear me, love? Now, don't be frightened. I'm Lumpy's mummy.

Roo: Here I am! Right here!

Mrs. Heffalump: Don't you worry, love.

[Kanga and the others look on in worry.]

Kanga: Oh!

Mrs. Heffalump: Just leave it to me.

[She picks up two logs with her trunk and throws them out of the way.]

Rabbit: Ohhh! Oh!

Mrs. Heffalump: Now, now, try not to move, love. Here I come.

[She lowers her trunk. Roo tries to reach it.]

Mrs. Heffalump: Hold very still, love.

[She sucks Roo up to her trunk.]

Mrs. Heffalump: Easy does it.

[She slowly lifts Roo out and steps away from the log pile, much to everyone’s excitement and relief.]

Roo: Yeah!

[Lumpy trumpets with joy. Mrs. Heffalump gives Roo back to Kanga.]

Oh, thank goodness.

Roo: Mama! Mama!

Kanga: Roo! Oh, Roo. I was so worried.

Roo: Thanks, Mrs. Heffalump.

[Mrs. Heffalump winks at him.]

Lumpy: Mummy! (trumpets) You did it! You did it! (laughs, trumpets again)

[Tigger and Rabbit look down in shame for their mistreatment of heffalumps.]

Kanga: (hugs Roo) My little Roo.

Mrs. Heffalump: (hugs Lumpy with her trunk) Oh, Lumpy. You've found your call.

Pooh: Oh, Rabbit. That's why the Heffalump was in our wood. She was looking for her baby.

Rabbit: (clears his throat) Young...Heffalump. I, that is to say, we… (sighs) Can you ever forgive us? We've acted very badly.

Lumpy: That's okay, Long Ears. (giggles)

Tigger: I like this kid already.

[Lumpy laughs.]

Lumpy: You're right, Rooty-toot. He is nice, once you get to know him.

Mrs. Heffalump: Lumpy, darling. We really should be going.

[Lumpy walks up to Roo.]

Lumpy: I have to go home now.

[Lumpy and Roo hug.]

Roo: Goodbye, Lumpster.

Lumpy: Goodbye, Rooty-toot.

[They look back at their mothers.]

Roo: Just a bit longer?

Lumpy: Please?

Mrs. Heffalump: (chuckles) Well...I don't see why not.

Kanga: I suppose a few more minutes wouldn't hurt.

Lumpy: Forward, bounce!

Roo: Wow!

[Roo and Lumpy happily chase after each other and play while Kanga, Mrs. Heffalump, Pooh, Piglet, Tigger, and Rabbit watch happily.]

Roo: Here I come!

Lumpy: Roo, Roo, Rooty-toot-toot.

Roo: Woo-hoo! Yippee!

Pooh: And so, things were quite different in the Hundred Acre Wood after that. You know, we never really did capture a Heffalump that day. It was more like Lumpy captured all of us.
