I wish it had a book and cassette tape. If it did, it'd sound like this. Walt Disney's Winnie the Pooh and the Windy Day. This is the story of Winnie the Pooh and the Windy Day. You can read along with me in your book as we follow the story. When you hear this sound, turn the page. After you finish the story, you can turn the tape cassette over and record your own story. Okay let's begin. One windy day, Winnie the Pooh was sitting in his thoughtful spot. He watched the leaves blowing in the wind. His friend Gopher popped up from a hole in front of Pooh. Did you know that today is Windsday?! asked Gopher. Then I must go and wish all my friends a Happy Windsday and I shall begin with my very dear friend, Piglet said Pooh. So off he went. First Pooh went over to Piglet's house. Happy Windsday, Piglet, said Pooh. Hello, Pooh, squeaked Piglet. Piglet was trying to sweep his yard. But the wind blew the leaves everywhere. Suddenly, Piglet began to blow away too. Pooh grabbed Piglet's sweater but his sweater began to unravel. Soon, Pooh was holding onto only a thread! Piglet flew up, up, up in the air. He pulled Pooh behind him on the ground. Along come Kanga and her baby son, Roo. Look Mama, Piglet is a kite said Roo. Kanga waved at Piglet. Piglet waved back. Pooh was pulled along faster and faster. Eeyore the donkey was standing outside his new stick home. Eeyore had just finished building it. There! Nothing will knock this down said Eeyore proudly. Crash the wind blew Pooh into the stick house. Well, nothing but Pooh said Eeyore. Rabbit was picking carrots in his garden. My back hurts I wish someone would help me said Rabbit. Just then, the wind dragged Pooh through the carrot patch. Pooh's feet dugged up the carrots. The carrots flew right into the wheelbarrow. Happy Windsday Rabbit, called Pooh! Pooh and Piglet sailed onto Owl's house. Inside, Owl was trying to read a book but the strong wind shook the tree and Owl's tree house shook too. Suddenly, Owl heard a thump on the window. He turned around and said what a surprise! Hmm I didn't know that Piglet could fly said Owl. Then Pooh appeared at the window too. Owl opened his window and a gust of wind blew Pooh and Piglet in. Happy Windsday, Owl, said Pooh. Pooh and Piglet flew across the room and they landed in two chairs. How nice of you to drop in said Owl. Owl sat down with his friends and the house swayed back and forth in the wind. A pot of honey on the table slid over to Pooh. Is there any honey in that pot? asked Pooh. Yes there is said Owl. I love honey said Pooh. You can help yourself Pooh, said Owl. The house swayed some more and the pot of honey slid right into Pooh's arms. Pooh opened the lid. But suddenly, the house tilted sharply and the honey pot slid away from Pooh. Come back said Pooh. The wind blew harder and harder until Owl's tree leaned over and crashed to the ground. Owl's house fell to pieces. The honey pot landed on Pooh's head. Piglet landed on top of the honey pot. Piglet, are you hurt? asked Owl. No I am not said Piglet. And are you and Pooh alright? asked Owl. Yum... I mean yes said Pooh. But my house isn't alright said Owl. I am so sorry Owl said Pooh. Along come Eeyore. Did Pooh crash into Owl's house too? asked Eeyore. No Eeyore it was the wind said Pooh. Don't worry Owl, I'll find you a new place to live said Eeyore. And he slowly shuffled away. The wind was still blowing very hard. Then it began to rain. Let's go home Piglet, I've had enough of Windsday said Pooh. So have I, said Piglet. The windy day turned into a windy night and Pooh was at home in his bed until he heard a strange sound that he had never heard before. And so Pooh got up and he went to his door to investigate. Is that you Piglet? Pooh called out after opening the front door. But nobody answered Suddenly, a strange looking animal named Tigger bounced in and pushed Pooh onto the floor. Oh hello I'm Tigger T-i-double-guh-er said Tigger. Suddenly, Pooh put down his popgun. Oh... you scared me said Pooh! Yep Tiggers are wunnerful at being scary he said confidently. Well, what's a Tigger?” asked Pooh “I'm glad you brought that up, chum!” said Tigger. Then Tigger bounced all around the room to show Pooh what a Tigger really was. Tigger stopped bouncing and looked at the mirror. What a strange looking creature look at these beady little eyes, that "purrposterous" chin, and these "rickydickorous" striped pajamas! Suddenly, Pooh nodded and said it looks like another Tigger to me. Tigger decided to change the subject and invited himself to stay for a little snack. Did I say I was hungry? asked Tigger. Well not for honey I hope, said Pooh casting a worried glance at his honeypot. Oh boy honey that's what Tiggers like best cried Tigger. I was afraid of that said Pooh as Tigger plopped down at the table, grabbed the honey and dug his paw in. When he took a big scoop from the honey jar, he found out that he didn't like honey at all. Yuck Tigger's dont like honey. Why that icky sticky stuff is only fit for Heffalumps and Woozles they're even more scary. They eat honey you know! So you better watch out said Tigger. Then, Tigger bounced out through the door. If what Tigger said was true, and if there really were Heffalumps and Woozles about, there was only one thing to do. Take drastic precautions and Pooh decided to stay awake all night to protect his precious honey. Now the very windy night turned into a very rainy night. And Pooh tried to stay awake hour after hour, but his eyelids got really tired. Until finally, Pooh fell fast asleep and began to dream. While Pooh was asleep, Pooh had a horrible nightmare. The Heffalumps and Woozles were everywhere. They came in all shapes and all sizes. They were stealing and eating all his honey. Poor Pooh didn't have a chance against them. His honey had been eaten right in front of him. Then when Pooh woke up from his dream, he realized that his house had been flooded. And it rained and rained and rained. The river overflowed. The water came in closer and closer to Piglet's door. In the middle of the night, Piglet woke up. Piglet sat up in bed. His bedroom was flooded! His chairs and dresser were floating on top of the water. Even his bed bobbed up and down! Oh dear what should I do? said Piglet. Soon, he had an idea. Piglet climbed on a chair and he floated out the window. The water was everywhere. Piglet found a stick to use as an oar. He steered his chair through the water. Hello! Hello! called Piglet. But there was nobody around. The rain fell harder and harder... the wind blew this way and that... and Piglet was almost blown overboard! By the next morning, Pooh's house was flooded too. I must save my honey," said Pooh. So he put his honey pots out on a branch. This is hard work, it's time for a little honey said Pooh. Pooh began to lick the honey then he put his head into the pot to lick some more. His head got stuck and he fell off the branch! "Help!" called Pooh. Pooh fell into the river headfirst. And with his head in the pot, he floated by Piglet. Pooh oh Pooh!" called Piglet happily. I'm in here Piglet said Pooh. He sounded very sad. Piglet pulled Pooh to safety. But all of a sudden. Look out!" called Pooh. Help!" squeaked Piglet. The two of them went over a waterfall! The rain was stopping. Christopher Robin went down to the riverbank to find his friends. There was Owl riding on a log while Rabbit, Tigger, Kanga and Roo were safe in a tub. But where are Pooh and Piglet?" asked Christopher Robin. Nobody knew! Then Pooh came floating downstream. Hooray! everyone cheered. Pooh waved to his friends. Piglet waved from the honey pot. Christopher Robin waded into the honey pot and rescued Pooh and Piglet. Pooh put me in the honeypot to keep me safe said Piglet. Pooh you are a hero said Christopher Robin. Pooh rescued Piglet said Christopher Robin. We'll have a hero party for him! Just then, Eeyore walked slowly up to the group. Good news I have found an empty house. Owl can live there said Eeyore. That's wonderful said Christopher Robin. But where is it Eeyore?" If you want to follow me, I'll show it to you said Eeyore. He slowly shuffled away. Eeyore led everyone up to the door. I've seen that house before said Pooh. Pooh, that's my house whispered Piglet. It's Piglet's house! said Rabbit. So if Owl moves in, said Kanga but where will Piglet live? asked Roo. Piglet can live with me said Pooh. I'd like that, said Piglet. Pooh gave Piglet a big bear hug. Piglet gave his house to a friend without a home and that makes Piglet a hero too! We'll have a two hero party said Christopher Robin. The wind and rain had stopped. Christopher Robin and his friends set up a table on the dry hill and they've all had a wonderful party.
